This week we had the opportunity to venture up to the 4th floor for the first time to experience the extraordinary views. It was a beautiful spring day with crystal clear skies offering stunning panoramic views of the Chesapeake Bay and Kent Island. In the next couple of weeks we will officially be “under roof” allowing the contractors to dive into more detailed work inside the Inn.
We have made a tremendous amount of progress during the winter months. As you drive over the Bay Bridge the 4 story building that you now see was nothing but a pile of dirt four short months ago. The primary focus thus far has been on the Inn itself. In addition to the Inn, we will have several other buildings that will make up the entire property – Garage, Shed, Silo, Tool Shed Bar, Green House and Spa (opening in 2016). This month we have started to see the early signs of construction on these buildings.
While the construction site has been filled with hustle and bustle, our team has been working with our interior designers to finalize furniture, fabric and artwork selections. We have been thumbing through roughly 1,250 pages of design specs that detail everything from head boards to dining tables to lighting fixtures. The interior selections make up just one of the thousand decisions that need to be made prior to opening the Inn this fall.

We are beaming with excitement and thrilled to share the first set of construction photos of our new project. THE INN has been a true labor of love and something we have been envisioning for years. In a matter of months, we went from architectural drawings and artists renderings to a busy construction site. We officially broke ground in October and it has been a whirlwind ever since with every day bringing dramatic changes as construction workers make their way to the fourth floor.
It takes a village to envision, create and plan such an extraordinary project. We are grateful for all the companies and individuals who have brought our dream to fruition. This team consists of DAS Architects (http://www NULL.dasarchitects NULL.com/) (architect and interior designer), Ryan Associates (http://www NULL.ryan-assoc NULL.com/) (landscape architect) and Coakley Williams (http://www NULL.coakleywilliams NULL.com/) (construction) among many others who have supported us every step of the way.

The Chesapeake Bay Beach Club is thrilled to officially announce the expansion of our exquisite waterfront property to include The Inn at the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club. The Inn features 54 luxurious boutique guest rooms and suites that are beautifully appointed with high end furnishings, amenities and views of the Chesapeake Bay. The food and beverage offerings will include Knoxie’s Table, a farm-and-bay-to-table style restaurant, and The Market, a gourmet marketplace and grab & go cafe, featuring dishes that will draw inspiration from the Inn’s Chef Garden along with the extraordinary farmers and watermen of Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
Whether it be a wedding reception for 120, a rehearsal dinner for 50, or a board retreat for 10, the Inn’s extraordinary event spaces will create a one of a kind, memorable experience. The Inn is a place where families join to celebrate, friends come together, and guests check-in to slow down and unwind.
We will be sure to keep you in the loop when our reservations books are open! Until then, we invite you to join along in this fun journey as we post construction photos and updates over the coming months.
CBBC participated in the 46th Annual Maryland Seafood Festival’s “Crab Soup Cook-Off” on Saturday, September 8th at Sandy Point State Park. We entered in the Vegetable Crab Soup and Alternative Soup categories and took home three awards.
2nd Place – People’s Choice for our Vegetable Crab Soup
3rd Place – People’s Choice for our Bloody Mary Crab Gazpacho
3rd Place – Judge’s Choice for our Vegetable Crab Soup
We had a blast getting out in the community and participating in this great event. We were also very fortunate to have been mentioned in Sunday’s Capital Gazette along with a photo of our great team.
We look forward to doing it again next year!
We are very excited at CBBC because today we start running our spots on a local radio station – WRNR. If you live in the DC, Baltimore, Annapolis and Eastern Shore area tune in to 103.1 to listen. Our spots will be running for the next two weeks and again in April and May for two weeks each month. You will most likely hear our general spot which will be airing twice a day but what we are most excited about is our “Entertaining Tip of the Week” which will air Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7:45 AM. This is our opportunity as THE EXPERT to pass along some helpful hints for your next home party. Since it is only a 60 second spot, we aren’t able to provide as much information as we would like on each topic so we are going to post some additional information on our blog each week.
If you haven’t had the chance to visit the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club we invite you to attend our weekly Open House every Saturday from 9a-11a. Let us take the stress out of planning your next meeting or special event and host it at CBBC. Let us know you heard us on WRNR and we might offer you something special (excludes weddings).
Entertaining Tip of the Week: March 11-15
It’s all about the bar this week! A well stocked bar is essential for any event. Planning in advance will give you the opportunity to spend more time with your guests and enjoy this great party that you are throwing. For the most part, your guests will know exactly what they want to drink and how to make it, so there is no need to spend the entire evening behind the bar customizing drinks. Be sure that you provide the basics in regards to liquor and mixers so that all the basis are covered (detailed list below). Don’t forget the ice – not only do you need ice for the drinks but you need ice to keep some of the beverages cold (i.e. white wine and beer). We recommend offering a specialty drink that goes along with your theme and is premixed and ready to pour. This will take the guess work away from your guests and is a great conversation starter.
What’s on the Bar?
- Scotch, Vodka, Gin, Tequila, and Rum
- Imported & Domestic Beer
- Red & White Wine
- Club Soda, Tonic, Ginger Ale, Coke/Pepsi and Diet Coke/Pepsi
Orange and Cranberry Juice
- Garnish – Lime, Lemon, etc.
What else goes on the Bar?
- Ice, Ice and more Ice
- Trash Can
- Glassware or Cups – Glass or plastic, it is your call and will affect the overall feel for your event. You can offer a number of different options in shape and size but a lot of this will depend on how much space you have available for a wide variety.
- Cocktail Napkins
- Towel (someone is bound to spill)
We are located only 15 minutes from Annapolis just over the Bay Bridge. We offer six versatile indoor and outdoor event spaces with endless options for corporate and special events, year round. From a productive meeting in our state-of-the-art conference space, to a fun filled day of team building activities and an all you can eat crab feast to a formal fundraising gala for 300, we do it all!

I can’t get the Beauty and the Beast song out of my head! ‘Be our guest, be our guest…”
At CBBC we strive to consistently provide the highest level of customer service, amazing and deliciously presented menu selections in a welcoming and friendly atmosphere……with a gorgeous background of course! Over the years we have kept our Tasting events private – only inviting couples and their parents that have commited to spending their wedding day with us at CBBC and not releasing any of the details until the invitations were mailed. We understand that planning a wedding and choosing menu selections that not only the bride and groom will enjoy, but that they feel confident that all of their guests will enjoy as well can be overwhelming.
To make the decision making process a little easier, we present our Tasting event in the same fashion that we host our wedding events. Welcome the guests with a refreshment! Is there better way to set the mood for the reception than welcoming your guests with a glass of champagne or a mojito? Maybe keep things a little simpler and have a station of fresh lemonade and Southern sweet tea decorated with a little flair reflecting your wedding day colors or theme? Once all of our guests arrive, it’s time for a cocktail hour where our guests will sample passed hors d’oeuvres, stationary items and see our Chefs in action. Next stop….entree selections – both plated and buffet selections, a little seasonal salad, maybe an intermezzo. Just when our guests think that have had enough, we whip open the doors to the Garden Room, ‘wowing’ them with creative displays – and invite everyone in for dessert samples, coffee and a wine tasting. Wait until you see the cake pops and the mini root beer and orange cream floats – YUM! Just in case guests need a little something extra at the conclusion of the event (especially after the wine tasting) we hope that they will remember to grab a Kobe beef slider… or two… and some Boardwalk fries.
The Tasting events are really a special day for our couples to relax and enjoy the day and get to know our CBBC family. We don’t invite other Wedding Professionals because we don’t want the day to be overwhelming. While planning the Tasting event that we just hosted in February we got so excited that we decided to ask Leo DJPhotography (http://leodjphoto NULL.com/home)to spend the day with us and capture some of the details for us. So glad that we did! Here’s a link to Leo’s BLOG (http://leodjphoto NULL.com/blog/2013/03/chesapeake-bay-beach-club-wedding-bridal-tasting-2013-photography/) documenting the event. We also asked Sarah Campbell with Intrgue Design (http://intrigue-designs NULL.com/)to help us with some tablescapes and station decor. Enjoy!
With the Holiday upon us and the hustle-bustle everywhere, this is the time that we reflect on 2012 and look forward to 2013. The Weddings Department at CBBC has had an amazing year and had the pleasure of working with different brides and grooms and their families as they planned, hosted, and shared one of the most important days of their lives with the people that matter most to them. We – our guests and our CBBC family – are all blessed to have all that we need in terms of food, shelter and clothing. As we continue to prepare to begin the New Year with our Annual Waterfront Bridal Showcase, we want to take the opportunity to give back to the community and share with others less fortunate by donating a portion of the Show’s proceeds as well as non-perishable food items to the Maryland Food Bank – Eastern Shore.

We will be hosting our 12th Annual Waterfront Bridal Show at CBBC on Saturday, January 5, 2013 from Noon until 5pm. This year’s popular Vintage flair will be incorporated into the Show along with classic wedding styles and décor. Guests will experience each ballroom interactively, gathering creative ideas and visiting with the area’s premier Wedding Professionals who helped create these dynamic displays. In addition to the fabulous themed room décor, food and drink samples and displays, music demonstrations and planning tips, each Ballroom will also feature a different Bridal Boutique and strolling models to present an up-close and personal look at gowns, accessories, trendy up do’s and makeup.
Over the past few years we have been working with our local Food Bank whenever possible to make donations to our local pantry. It was astounding to us when we realized how many families rely on these resources. Just prior to the arrival of “Super Storm Sandy” we made the decision to donate a portion of our Show’s proceeds to the Maryland Food Bank – The Eastern Shore of Maryland is still one of the most rural areas and Maryland with a history rich in tradition. Generations of watermen still live and work on the Shores of the Chesapeake Bay. As you can imagine, we offer many seafood selections on our menus. Our Chef will tell you that we make so many crab cakes that we are a major financial contributor to the crabbing industry!
One of the area’s most greatly affected by Sandy was Crisfield, Maryland. The Maryland Food Bank – Eastern Shore allows businesses or organizations that collect enough food or money to actually choose where their donations will go. We are so excited to say that after the Bridal Show on January 5th we will be sending a TRUCK of food and well needed supplies to the families in Crisfield! With your help we are going to make that happen!
We look forward to seeing you on January 5th – don’t forget to bring your non-perishable food item!

Every now and again we have the opportunity to partner with other local companies to host a special event or do something out of the box. This is the second time this year we have opened our doors to What’s Up Magazine.
In June, What’s Up spent the day at CBBC for a photo shoot for their September Fashion Issue (see previous blog post). Last night, we partnered with them again for a fabulous event to celebrate the regions Top Dentists. We created a menu of light and heavy hors d’oeuvres that were paired with a delicious beer or wine. Just a few things off the menu…
- Artisan Domestic & International Cheeses & Seasonal Fruit
- Spicy Crab Fondue served with an Assortment of Rustic Breads
- Petite Pan Fried Crab Cakes served on a Tasting Spoon with Fire Charred Jalapeno Lime Sauce and Sweet Local Corn Relish paired with Dry Creek Sauvignon Blanc
- Marinated Lamb Lolly Pops with Cilantro Pesto dipping Sauce served with Pedroncelli Pinot Noir
- Grilled Flat Iron Steak, Stilton and Sauteed Onions on Crostini served with Dog Fish Head Beer – 90 Minute IPA
- Roasted Wild Mushroom Pizza served with Dog Fish Head Beer – My Antonia
- Classic Cannolis served with Coffee & Tea Station
They selected our Tavern Ballroom to host this event. This Ballroom is so versatile that a corporate cocktail reception works just as perfectly as a #150 guest plated wedding celebration. All of our venues offer a very neutral design and color scheme that is a fantastic backdrop for the most casual or formal events.
Please enjoy a few photos from this great event!
It all started for me last week when I was watching the Today Show and one of the segments was about Top Holiday Gift Trends. Are you serious? At the time, we weren’t even half way through the month of September and I just put away all my white pants. Doesn’t it seem like every year the holiday chatter gets earlier and earlier? Before we know it, the holiday season will just be a year long celebration (wouldn’t that be fun?).
So the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club is going to jump on this early holiday bandwagon and start talking about HOLIDAY PARTIES! If you can’t beat ‘em…you might as well join ‘em. We have six fantastic waterfront event rooms that would be ideal for any holiday celebration – big, small, casual, formal and everything in between. We customize all of our events to fit your specific needs and budget…oh and we are great to work with and will make planning a breeze for you.
We put together a few incentives for those of you who want to jump on the bandwagon with us and book your holiday party EARLY! Please see a few of the details below:

In June, we had the opportunity to welcome What’s Up Magazine for a fashion photo shoot that would be featured in this months (September) issue. We had a blast being a part of the process that included hours of preparation, dozens of outfits, models, photographers, set changes, etc.
We are excited that this particular issue has officially hit store shelves and has found its way into people’s homes. The fashion spread can be found on pages 40-47.
Below, is a link to a PDF version of the shoot in case you can’t get your hands on a copy.
