We are very excited at CBBC because today we start running our spots on a local radio station – WRNR.  If you live in the DC, Baltimore, Annapolis and Eastern Shore area tune in to 103.1 to listen.  Our spots will be running for the next two weeks and again in April and May for two weeks each month.  You will most likely hear our general spot which will be airing twice a day but what we are most excited about is our “Entertaining Tip of the Week” which will air Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7:45 AM.  This is our opportunity as THE EXPERT to pass along some helpful hints for your next home party.  Since it is only a 60 second spot, we aren’t able to provide as much information as we would like on each topic so we are going to post some additional information on our blog each week.

Entertaining Tip of the Week: March 11-15

It’s all about the bar this week!  A well stocked bar is essential for any event.  Planning in advance will give you the opportunity to spend more time with your guests and enjoy this great party that you are throwing.  For the most part, your guests will know exactly what they want to drink and how to make it, so there is no need to spend the entire evening behind the bar customizing drinks.  Be sure that you provide the basics in regards to liquor and mixers so that all the basis are covered (detailed list below).  Don’t forget the ice – not only do you need ice for the drinks but you need ice to keep some of the beverages cold (i.e. white wine and beer).  We recommend offering a specialty drink that goes along with your theme and is premixed and ready to pour.  This will take the guess work away from your guests and is a great conversation starter.

• Imported & Domestic Beer
• Red & White Wine
• Club Soda, Tonic, Ginger Ale, Coke/Pepsi and Diet Coke/Pepsi

With the Holiday upon us and the hustle-bustle everywhere, this is the time that we reflect on 2012 and look forward to 2013. The Weddings Department at CBBC has had an amazing year and had the pleasure of working with different brides and grooms and their families as they planned, hosted, and shared one of the most important days of their lives with the people that matter most to them. We – our guests and our CBBC family – are all blessed to have all that we need in terms of food, shelter and clothing. As we continue to prepare to begin the New Year with our Annual Waterfront Bridal Showcase, we want to take the opportunity to give back to the community and share with others less fortunate by donating a portion of the Show’s proceeds as well as non-perishable food items to the Maryland Food Bank – Eastern Shore.

We will be hosting our 12^th Annual Waterfront Bridal Show at CBBC on Saturday, January 5, 2013 from Noon until 5pm. This year’s popular Vintage flair will be incorporated into the Show along with classic wedding styles and décor. Guests will experience each ballroom interactively, gathering creative ideas and visiting with the area’s premier Wedding Professionals who helped create these dynamic displays. In addition to the fabulous themed room décor, food and drink samples and displays, music demonstrations and planning tips, each Ballroom will also feature a different Bridal Boutique and strolling models to present an up-close and personal look at gowns, accessories, trendy up do’s and makeup.

Over the past few years we have been working with our local Food Bank whenever possible to make donations to our local pantry. It was astounding to us when we realized how many families rely on these resources. Just prior to the arrival of “Super Storm Sandy” we made the decision to donate a portion of our Show’s proceeds to the Maryland Food Bank – The Eastern Shore of Maryland is still one of the most rural areas and Maryland with a history rich in tradition. Generations of watermen still live and work on the Shores of the Chesapeake Bay. As you can imagine, we offer many seafood selections on our menus. Our Chef will tell you that we make so many crab cakes that we are a major financial contributor to the crabbing industry!

One of the area’s most greatly affected by Sandy was Crisfield, Maryland. The Maryland Food Bank – Eastern Shore allows businesses or organizations that collect enough food or money to actually choose where their donations will go. We are so excited to say that after the Bridal Show on January 5^th we will be sending a TRUCK of food and well needed supplies to the families in Crisfield! With your help we are going to make that happen!

Every now and again we have the opportunity to partner with other local companies to host a special event or do something out of the box.  This is the second time this year we have opened our doors to What’s Up Magazine.

In June, What’s Up spent the day at CBBC for a photo shoot for their September Fashion Issue (see previous blog post).  Last night, we partnered with them again for a fabulous event to celebrate the regions Top Dentists.  We created a menu of light and heavy hors d’oeuvres that were paired with a delicious beer or wine.  Just a few things off the menu…

• Artisan Domestic & International Cheeses & Seasonal Fruit
• Spicy Crab Fondue served with an Assortment of Rustic Breads
• Petite Pan Fried Crab Cakes served on a Tasting Spoon with Fire Charred Jalapeno Lime Sauce and Sweet Local Corn Relish paired with Dry Creek Sauvignon Blanc
• Marinated Lamb Lolly Pops with Cilantro Pesto dipping Sauce served with Pedroncelli Pinot Noir
• Grilled Flat Iron Steak, Stilton and Sauteed Onions on Crostini served with Dog Fish Head Beer – 90 Minute IPA
• Roasted Wild Mushroom Pizza served with Dog Fish Head Beer – My Antonia
• Classic Cannolis served with Coffee & Tea Station

They selected our Tavern Ballroom to host this event.  This Ballroom is so versatile that a corporate cocktail reception works just as perfectly as a #150 guest plated wedding celebration.  All of our venues offer a very neutral design and color scheme that is a fantastic backdrop for the most casual or formal events.

It all started for me last week when I was watching the Today Show and one of the segments was about Top Holiday Gift Trends.  Are you serious?  At the time, we weren’t even half way through the month of September and I just put away all my white pants.  Doesn’t it seem like every year the holiday chatter gets earlier and earlier?  Before we know it, the holiday season will just be a year long celebration (wouldn’t that be fun?).

In June, we had the opportunity to welcome What’s Up Magazine for a fashion photo shoot that would be featured in this months (September) issue.  We had a blast being a part of the process that included hours of preparation, dozens of outfits, models, photographers, set changes, etc.

We are excited that this particular issue has officially hit store shelves and has found its way into people’s homes.  The fashion spread can be found on pages 40-47.

The Chesapeake Bay Beach Club is Maryland’s premier event facility specializing in weddings, special events and corporate events.

It has been a very exciting year at CBBC filled with great events.  We are just about half way through our busiest season and looking forward to all that is to come in the next few months.

We are continuously making improvements to ensure our venue is emaculate.  It is of utmost importance to us that when a couple comes to see our venue at an Open House it looks just a beautiful a year or two down the road on their wedding day.  These improvements are as small as changing light bulbs to a large project such as repainting the outside of the Beach House Ballroom (happening as we speak).  One of the compliments that we hear time and time again is about our stunning grounds and flaweless facility.

Here are a few of the larger improvements we have made this year to CBBC:

• Fresh coat of paint in the Sunset Ballroom and Garden Room
• New chandeliers in the Sunset Ballroom
• Blue stone entry way leading to the Sunset Ballroom
• New lawn below the Tavern Bayside (perfect for lawn games)
• New windows, lighting, paint and four flat screen TV’s in the Tavern Bayside
• Brand new state-of-the-art meeting space – Breezeway & Breezeway Breakout
• Updated our Tavern Ballroom and Sunset Ballroom Bridal Suite – New wallcoverings/paint and new furniture
• Brand new china, silver and glassware
• Wireless access available throughout the entire facility

CBBC partnered with Living Social for three great Sunday Funday Crabfeasts (two in July with one more scheduled for August). Guests have come from as close as Kent Island and as far as New Jersey and Richmond, Virginia to experience the Beach Club. We typically are not open to the public as we are a private event venue so this was a great opportunity for people to spend the day with us and see what we are all about. Tickets were available earlier this month through Pepsi and Living Social’s “adventures” website. We will keep you posted if we offer this event or something similar in the future.

The Sunday Funday Crabfeast included an all you can eat buffet, crabs and beer & wine plus fun lawn and water games. CBBC offered volleyball, corn hole and bocce ball (available for events in the Beach House & Tavern Bayside). Plus, Living Social’s team organized tournaments for anyone who wanted to get competitive.
